...Won't win ALL their games this year. What a relief to other clubs that we don't just have to hand them the Cup now, eh? Heh.

The Wings are more than capable of competing with the Avs. It's just gonna take solid defense <which should not be a problem> and a few goals... because yes, by gawd...they are gonna score a few. Goaltending against them will have to be top-notch and rob a few that should have went in. Shots on their net must be high in numbers and quality, and any team can be beat.

The defense is gonna be the key. The Wings have been loaded up offensivly before and been dumped. As have many other teams. It's gonna be tough to choke up all the Avs can toss at ya but if the Wings can keep the forwards off-balance as much as possible they will have a good chance of winning.

Hatcher, Chelios and Fischer have to make ANYONE coming into the Wings zone worry a bit. To let the talent the Avs have into your zone unmolested is to invite a loss. Even on broken plays they are dangerous as all get-out. An errant/risky outlet pass or botched clearing attempt and those guys'll have a puck in your net so fast you'll need a replay to see it. Better to take the icing or attempt a carry-out.

Do not worry, Wings fans...the Avs can be beat. The Wings just need to step up their play accordingly. Don't take defensive risks unless absolutely necessary, and keep shooting the puck. Their goaltending is their Achilles Heel...

Screw the avs... Enjoyed the crosscheck on Kayria; any normal sized person would not have fallen down. All that talent (???) and they cannot score on a 5-3. What is it with the fan in that avs crowd - their clothes look like something they won when the carnival guy couldn't guess their weight.

If the Wings play the boring hockey they showed us Saturday, our defense should be good enough to stifle even the Avs, as long as Hasek holds up. Still, while scoring just one goal, they were very exciting. In terms of watchability, the Avs-Blues game was much better than the Wings-Sens game. And Holy Cow, was Chris Osgood dynamite, or what? Seriously, most of you know that he's about, oh, my 61st favorite goalie currently in the NHL, but he was lightning quick, particular with his pads. Props to Osgood. Though I doubt he;ll hold up in the playoffs.

Yes, Osgood was very good last night. Two things the Avs did not do well: traffic in front of Osgood, and breaking out of their own zone. I've never seen so many one-handed passes and high flips out of a zone.

Still, when you have 40 shots - many of them quality shots - one can't complain too much about the Avs performance.
